All clear given at Montana Malmstrom Air Force Base

(UPDATE, 12:43 p.m.): As of 12:39 p.m., Malmstrom officials have issued an “all clear” and lifted the base lockdown.

The lockdown was initiated after a suspicious individual was reported on the base, initially believed to be an active shooter.

However, no shots were confirmed to have been fired, and there have been no reports of casualties or injuries. At present, there is no perceived threat to the public. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

UPDATE(11:57 A.M.): The threat was announced at 10:29 a.m. at building 219. Air Force and emergency personnel are securing the area.

FPCON Delta has been implemented at approximately 10:36 a.m. due to the incident.

Malmstrom officials are directing visitors and spectators to stay away from the building.

Public cooperation will help protect against possible injuries and enable base agencies to more effectively deal with the situation.

The Great Falls Police Department has taken to Facebook to confirm an ongoing incident at Malmstrom Air Force Base.

Additionally, they have announced that all Great Falls Public Schools are under a shelter-in-place (SIP) protocol.

As a precautionary measure, the Great Falls PD advises that all private schools and daycare facilities also implement SIP procedures immediately.

According to the post, residents of Great Falls may observe a heightened police presence on the far east end of town.

The Great Falls PD, along with the Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner’s Office, are responding to reports of a potential incident occurring at Malmstrom Air Force Base.

In a separate communication, Great Falls Public Schools have alerted parents, reassuring them that students are safe. Residents are reminded not to dial 911 unless it is to report an emergency.
