Life threatening flash flood emergency issued for Mayfield, Bardwell, and Wickliffe Kentucky

Flash Flood Emergencies are out and it includes the city of Mayfield. Some spots have picked up 10” of rain with more on the way. This is a life threatening situation for folks in far WKY.



There is an ongoing and potentially life-threatening situation of severe flash flooding in western Kentucky.

In the early hours, numerous regions have already received substantial rainfall, ranging from 4 to over 7 inches since midnight.

The heavy rainfall persists, and an additional 2 to 4 inches or possibly more could occur in the same areas throughout the morning.

This poses a significant risk, and this flash flooding event might be one of the most severe we have ever encountered in this area.

If you reside in a flood-prone region, it is crucial to find higher ground for safety.

Many roads are currently submerged, and the exact number is difficult to ascertain.

If you must drive, exercise extreme caution, and never attempt to drive through flooded roadways.

Large area of severe risk today from the Great Lakes to the southern Plains. Within the broader Slight Risk (level 2/5), the greatest threat will be concentrated in E NE and in MN/WI; both areas could see a few supercells with a large hail and tornado threat, especially across MN/WI. Slight Risk also exists across W KY/TN, where an ongoing storm complex has already induced significant flash flooding across the area.
