Milwaukee Juneteenth Day shooting: Police arrested 15-year-old sole shooter

Six teens were shot in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. and Chambers minutes after the Juneteenth Day celebrations officially wrapped up.



According to Milwaukee police, they have apprehended the individual they believe to be the sole perpetrator responsible for the shooting incident that occurred shortly after the conclusion of the Juneteenth festivities on Monday, June 19.

The incident took place in the vicinity of Martin Luther King Jr. and Chambers, where six teenagers sustained gunshot wounds. Police officers in Milwaukee promptly responded to the scene at approximately 4:20 p.m., while a large gathering of people remained in the area following the conclusion of the city’s Juneteenth event at 4 p.m.

In a statement released on Thursday, Milwaukee police confirmed the arrest of an additional 16-year-old male who is believed to be the sole shooter in the incident.

The statement initially mentioned that criminal charges for all arrestees were pending.

However, a subsequent correction issued by the police clarified that the sole suspected shooter is actually 15 years old.

Earlier, police informed FOX3 News that a 19-year-old male victim had been arrested in relation to the shooting on Juneteenth Day.

In a previous statement, the police indicated that their preliminary investigation suggested a 17-year-old male victim was also involved as a shooter, but they are actively seeking additional unknown suspects.

It is important to note that this investigation is ongoing and subject to change as new information emerges.
