False report of active shooter at Alexandria Monroe High School in Madison County

According to sources confirmed by FOX3, the supposed active shooter situation at Alexandria Monroe High School in Madison County was a false alarm. The school is presently dismissing students for the day.

Officers and detectives are currently on scene conducting an investigation.

As per our sources, an individual believed they heard gunshots at the school, causing the institution to implement a lockdown. However, the purported emergency regarding an “active shooter” ultimately turned out to be a false alarm.

City of Alexandria Indiana said “We understand your concern. Please exercise restraint and stay clear of the high school so all first responders can get where they need to. We are following the events closely and will be assisting where needed“.

Parents of students Alex Monroe HS students are to pick up their children at the Alex Baptist Church at 2107 S. Park Avenue.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
