These reports have been unfounded as of this time and appear to be some type of hoax.

Illinois schools have received reports of Active Shooter incidents, resulting in lockdowns, helicopter responses, and parents being called to pick up their children.

These reports have spanned from the Chicago Area to the St. Louis Metro East in Illinois.

However, it seems that these reports are swatting calls, as no active shooters have been confirmed so far.

Multiple Illinois communities, including Granite City, Mt. Vernon, and Carbondale, have been targeted with fake school shooting calls.

On Wednesday April 12, 2023, several law enforcement agencies throughout the State of Illinois received calls reporting active shooter situations in their schools.

These reports have been unfounded as of this time and appear to be some type of hoax.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office and all city police departments in Clinton County are aware of the situation. Additionally, schools have been notified and will have increased police presence throughout the day.
