Police responded to reports of active shooter at Boston University

Update: BUPD has received numerous reports of an active shooter situation at various sites not long ago.

While the investigation is still ongoing, we are currently certain that our community is not in danger.

Our officers will remain watchful and present at the location.

We are grateful for your prompt cooperation. It is crucial to note that hoax “swatting” calls have been happening across the country, leading to significant anxiety within the community.

In case anyone experiences any trauma as a result of tonight’s events, numerous resources are available.

Boston University Police have received two reports of an active shooter in the vicinity of 855 Commonwealth Ave and 233 Bay State Road.

As of now, no evidence of any such incident has been found, but law enforcement officers are heavily concentrated in these regions.

Police report that they are clearing campus buildings.

Officers report no evidence of an active shooter nor any shots fired on campus.

Police report that they are remaining on scene.

Kindly refrain from contacting BU Police to obtain updates regarding the active shooter situation. You will be notified of any developments as soon as possible. Please note that currently, there is no visible evidence of any such incident.

As at the time of this report, there has been neither confirmation nor identification of any victims.

No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
