Emily Breidenbach identified as one of two Wisconsin police officers killed in a shooting during a traffic stop in Cameron

Suspect was taken to the hospital and later died.



Authorities reported that two police officers from Wisconsin were killed during a shooting that occurred during a traffic stop on Saturday.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice stated that they are investigating the incident, which took place in Cameron, Wisconsin.

The shooting occurred after an officer from the Chetek Police Department pulled over a motorist at around 3:38 p.m. and exchanged gunfire with the individual.

According to a statement from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, two police officers, one from Chetek and another from Cameron, were killed in a shooting during a traffic stop, while the suspect was taken to the hospital and later died.

The identities of the other officer and the shooter have not been disclosed.

Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul expressed his condolences on Twitter, stating that he is devastated by the loss and offering support to the families and police departments involved.

The investigation into the shooting incident is being led by the Division of Criminal Investigation within the Wisconsin Department of Justice, and a report will be submitted to the district attorney of Barron County once the investigation is complete.

The shooting took place in the village of Cameron in Barron County, which is located approximately 227 miles (365 kilometers) west of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and 96 miles (154 kilometers) northeast of Minneapolis. Chetek, Wisconsin, is situated around 9 miles (14 kilometers) southeast of Cameron.

The Barron County Sheriff’s Department expressed condolences and solidarity with the Cameron and Chetek Police Departments, stating that their thoughts and prayers are with them. Similarly, the Marinette County Deputy Sheriff’s Association posted on Facebook, expressing heavy hearts and sending thoughts and prayers to the Village of Cameron Police Department, the City of Chetek Police Department, the Barron County community, and the families of the two officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
