No credible threat found at Courtland High school

A number of different law enforcement organizations are reacting to reports of shooting threat at Courtland High school in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.

Officers and detectives are currently on scene conducting an investigation.

It appears that someone posted a picture of a gun on Snapchat and threatened to carry out a school shooting.

Statement from the management:

Several students have reported a concerning Snapchat image containing a potential threat to Courtland High School. We are currently working with the Sheriff’s Office to investigate the origins of the photograph, but have no evidence to consider it a credible threat at this time. The school is not on lockdown. Your child’s safety is always our priority. We take all threats seriously and encourage students and the community to share concerns so that they can be immediately addressed. We will update you once we have more information.

As at the time of this report, there has been neither confirmation nor identification of any victims.

No suspects have been identified, and there has been no information immediately released regarding any arrests.

Police ask public to please stay out of the area.
