No reports of active shooter at Saint Elizabeth University, investigation happening near Convent Station

As per a tweet from Fairleigh Dickinson University, local law enforcement is currently present at Saint Elizabeth University in Florham Park after a lockdown was implemented on Tuesday afternoon.

The University is currently in lockdown with a shelter in place due to a police investigation in the vicinity of the Convent Station train station which is adjacent to our campus. We are sheltering in place until further notice from the emergency authorities.

Please note that any student, faculty or staff not on already on campus should NOT come to campus today. Those on campus should continue to shelter in place until further notice from law enforcement. There is NO Active shooter on campus. More Info will be provided when available.

Convent Station is responsible for the incident that has led to the current lockdown.

FDU Florham Campus in Madison and Drew University in Madison have both been instructed to shelter-in-place until further notice due to the incident at Convent Station.

Additionally, the Morris-Essex line of NJ Transit has been suspended between Morristown and Madison, with the NJ Transit Police Department aiding in the investigation. The local police are spearheading the ongoing inquiry.

As authorities conduct their investigation, Morris County Golf Club and other nearby businesses have shut down. On Tuesday afternoon, Madison Public Schools implemented a temporary shelter-in-place alert. However, in a Facebook post, they announced that the shelter-in-place exercise could be concluded as per the confirmation by the Madison Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

K-8 early dismissal for conferences at MPS will proceed as scheduled, and there will be heightened police presence in Madison during the early dismissal and throughout the day for added safety measures.
