UPDATE: “At this time we can report that all staff and students are safe at RSHS and all District schools.

The Rock Springs Police Department is releasing a statement with further information. A non-related medical emergency is being attended to at RSHS at this time.

Further communication will come,” SCSD1 Superintendent Kelly McGovern stated.

Sweetwater Combined Communications received a call around 8:30 am today, stating that there was an active shooter at Rock Springs High School.

The Rock Springs Police Department (RSPD) and Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately to evaluate the situation.

As of now, all common areas have been searched and cleared, and officers are conducting room-by-room checks.

It’s important to note that there is no evidence to validate this threat currently. RSPD has advised parents to not come to the school as it can delay their ongoing operations.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
