Metro Nashville Police investigating active shooter situation at Target in Madison

According to the Metro Police, the perpetrator was spotted departing in a maroon vehicle.

Update: Jamar Simmons, aged 31, has been taken into custody for discharging a firearm inside Target. Tonight, detectives from TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) apprehended Simmons at his residence in Madison.

An ongoing incident involving a shooter at a Target store on Gallatin Pike North in Madison, across from Rivergate Mall, is being investigated by the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The authorities were notified of the situation a little before 5 p.m. on Sunday and promptly responded to the scene. After clearing the building, they confirmed that there was no longer a threat.

Upon their arrival, they found no signs of damage or injuries.

Following a review of the store’s surveillance footage with a manager, it was determined that a man had entered the store, proceeded to the back, and fired his gun at the back wall before leaving.

According to the Metro Police, the perpetrator was spotted departing in a maroon vehicle.
