The medical examiner has confirmed the identity of a deceased individual as Jeffrey Vandergrift, aged 55, who was a well-known radio host and went by the moniker “JV” on Wild 94.9.

Vandergrift hosted his own radio program called The JV Show and had established a strong following.

He was transparent about his health issues, which began in 2021, and discussed his struggles with Lyme disease on air.

Despite seeking treatment, he continued to experience symptoms such as “brain fog,” dizziness, migraines, and blurred vision.

On late Wednesday, his body was discovered at Pier 39 in San Francisco.

Following his disappearance from his San Francisco home on February 23, a search was launched throughout the region to locate him.

Earlier this month, JV’s wife, Natashi Yi, issued a statement via Wild 94.9 thanking listeners for their support and sharing that “personal information” had been discovered that led her to believe he would not be returning.

“I tell you this with incredible pain and sadness in my heart,” she added.

News of his passing quickly spread through social media and word of mouth, with many expressing shock and sadness at the loss. While the cause of death was not immediately disclosed, Vandergrift had previously spoken about his struggles with Lyme disease and ideations of self-harm.

Marylou Parnala wrote on Facebook that his passing was a “huge loss to the Bay” and shared memories of listening to JV’s show growing up, while Chelsea Ferreira urged readers to seek support if struggling with similar challenges.
