Police said the student later recanted the threat.

The Fort Lauderdale police department stated that the student retracted the statement, but the students were still evacuated as a precaution.

In response, a bomb squad and a police K-9 team were dispatched to conduct a thorough search of the campus, which is situated at 2501 NW 11th St., located in the northwestern part of the city.
