The Kansas City Police Department has been engaged in a prolonged standoff with an individual who fired at three SWAT officers while they were executing a search warrant at a local residence on Blue Ridge Boulevard near 23rd Street South at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Despite announcing their presence before attempting to enter the home, the officers were fired upon and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Consequently, the authorities set up a perimeter around the area and initiated a standoff, which was still ongoing as of Wednesday morning.

While it is uncertain how many people are inside the home or the purpose of the search warrant, two individuals who were present are currently being questioned by the police.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol has been enlisted to investigate the shooting as an impartial agency, with the Division of Drug and Crime Control overseeing the probe.

Negotiators are working diligently to establish communication with the person inside and resolve the situation peacefully.

The location surrounding the residence has been secured by the police department.

This is a developing story that will be updated when more information is available.
