Khalil Glanton stabbed to death inside the CURE Insurance Arena in Mercer County

Khalil Glanton, of Trenton, was stabbed multiple times around 8:30 p.m. as the second of two games at the Trenton arena concluded.`



The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office reported that a 23-year-old man, identified as Khalil Glanton from Trenton, was fatally stabbed on Thursday night while attending a high school basketball tournament at the CURE Insurance Arena.

Glanton sustained multiple stab wounds at approximately 8:30 p.m., after the basketball game between Trenton High School and Notre Dame High School had concluded. Emergency services transported him to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, but he was pronounced deceased shortly after 9 p.m.

Currently, no suspects have been apprehended, and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force, along with Trenton Police, are conducting an investigation into the incident.

According to James Earle, Superintendent of Trenton Public School District, Glanton graduated from Trenton Central High School in 2019.

In a statement addressed to the community on Friday morning, Superintendent James Earle confirmed that the incident was captured on video and uploaded on social media.

As a result, some students and staff members may have witnessed the altercation either in person or online. To support those affected by the incident, the district has activated the crisis team, and additional law enforcement personnel will be present within the high school and its surroundings.

Earle stated that as of now, no current students have been identified as having been directly involved in the incident, but the district has taken measures to ensure that individuals who may be connected to it are not on campus.
