HOMICIDE: On January 29, 2023, at 5:18 AM, officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to 1254 N. Liberty Street on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 29-year-old Darryl Rice Jr. suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in front of the business, which is a location that was rented out for a private party. Despite life-saving measures, Mr. Rice succumbed to his injuries and died on the scene.

Two additional victims arrived at local hospitals, one transported by Forsyth County EMS from a private residence and one that was driven to the hospital by friends.

A 17-year-old juvenile victim was transported by Forsyth County EMS and is currently listed in critical condition. Rodney Lee Lindsay Jr. (age 23) was transported to an area hospital by friends and is also currently listed in critical condition.
