False call sparks police response at Alcoa Walmart, official says

The bank is about 7 miles, across town, from the Walmart in Alcoa where a false call about a robbery occurred around the same time as the bank robbery.

[Alcoa, Tenn.] – The Alcoa Police Department (APD) responded to a report of Walmart employees being held at gunpoint at the Alcoa Walmart.

Blount County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and members of the U.S. Marshals Service also responded to the call in assistance to the APD. APD, BCSO, and the U.S. Marshals Service swept the store, finding that the call was a false call and everyone inside the store was safe.
