Curshawn Terrell, known as Kaz, recorded with rapper T.I. and was growing his career – until fatally shot by masked men at Lansing Township, Michigan studio, on New Year’s Eve.

In an alleged attack that took place over the weekend in Michigan, a music producer known as Kaz was fatally shot, and another man was injured as a result of the incident, according to the police.

On New Year’s Eve, armed men in masks started fire at Kaz’s recording studio, fled the area, and then came back to reload their weapons before continuing the attack.

An internet obituary reports that Kaz, whose actual name was Curshawn Terrell, passed away later that day at a Sparrow Health facility in Lansing, Michigan. He was 40 years old. He was a notable producer who collaborated with Grammy Award–winning rapper T.I., as well as Gucci Mane.

Authorities have not made any arrests nor have they disclosed a motive; however, they do not believe the shooting was random.

“He assisted people in the production of things, and he worked with people from all walks of life, from A to Z; I observed that he treated everyone with fairness,” One of Kaz’s close friends, Yanice Jackson
