Bryan Christopher Kohberger’s mother submitted a letter to Pocono Record last summer that contained a poem about the Uvalde school shooting. Bryan, 28, was the guy who was arrested early on Friday in connection with the University of Idaho quadruple homicide.

Melissa Kohberger, who works as a therapist in New Jersey and is Kohberger’s sister, wrote the poem.

MaryAnn Kohberger, the suspect’s mother, is 62 years old and lives in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania. On June 2, less than two weeks after the Uvalde elementary school shooting, which killed 17 students and two teachers, she sent a letter to The Pocono Record.

As I sat this morning, reeling from yet another school shooting, I found myself wrestling with which actions need to be taken to stop all the madness. What is the answer? Gun control measures? Mental health intervention?

Maryann Kohberger, who is Bryan Kohberger’s mother, has written many letters to the editor in the Pocono Record, according to a number of articles that were uncovered by FOX3.

In her letters, Maryann railed against the practice of abortion, perpetrators who commit school shootings, and the death sentence.

One of her works has the following as the headline: “I pray we consider the children, before the gun.”

Then I received a message from my daughter who works as a mental health therapist in New Jersey.

She shared a poem she had written, while in the greatest depths of despair. It shook me to my core, and I felt the need to share it:

May 24th, 2022 Uvalde, Texas, written by Melissa Kohberger

Bereft of their laughter

There is now not a sound

As we lower our children into the ground

Small hands and feet

Buried six feet deep into the earth of the world that failed them.

As I read the poem, I thought, whatever the solution, I pray we consider the children before the gun.

On December 30, Bryan Kohberger was taken into custody in connection with the murders that have captivated many people and occurred in Moscow, Idaho.

On November 13, in the late night hours, four college students were found dead in the apartment they shared off campus.

In the days that followed the discovery of their bodies, very few details surfaced, which served to fuel widespread interest in the investigation.
