45 year old Douglas Egan has been charged w/ Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Improper Photo/Video in bath/dress room after taken photos of a female in a restroom then pointing a gun at her as she chased him out of Hulen Mall leading to an active shooter call 12/24/22

More details regarding a Christmas Eve incident at Hulen Mall that resulted in an arrest for a man have been made public by Fort Worth police.

In connection with the incident, 45-year-old Douglas Egan is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and improper photography or videography in a public restroom.

A woman using the mall’s public restroom reported to authorities that she spotted a cell phone aimed at her from behind the stall’s wall.

The woman confronted the suspect, who, according to her statement, looked to be a man who was costumed to look like a woman.

The suspect left the bathroom and tried to leave the mall, but the woman kept following him.

When another man tried to prevent the suspect from fleeing the scene, the suspect pulled what seemed to be a handgun from his bag and aimed it at the other man.

The suspect fled the shopping center, but witnesses continued to keep a look out for him.

Several witnesses said that as he was changing clothes, they noticed what seemed to be a weapon concealed in the rear pocket of his pants.

When the police came, witnesses immediately guided them in the direction of Egan, who was then taken into custody.

After further investigation, the police found out that the weapon was a “pepper ball” gun.

Egan is a known sexual offender who has been found guilty of indecent exposure in DeSoto and Lancaster and indecency with a child in Dallas. On June 29, 2022, he no longer had to follow his parole rules.

The incident at Hulen Mall was initially reported to police just before 5 p.m. as a possible gunshot.

The shopping center was placed on lockdown until the investigation.
